ABOUT ABOUT

Advanced clinical and orthopedic massage treatment solutions for torso and upper extremity pain, injury, and structural problems.

Participants learn advanced clinical and orthopedic massage treatment solutions for common upper torso and upper extremity pain, injury, and structural problems. An integral element of our courses is to provide you the foundational skills for understanding the anatomical and biomechanical elements involved in pain, injury, or structural conditions. We emphasize orthopedic assessment and problem-solving strategies for a wide variety of conditions. In addition we focus a great deal of attention on making strategic choices in treatments. Differing modalities taught provide a diverse and highly effective set of tools, but don’t overtax your body.

In these classes, our goal is for you to thoroughly understand the physiological rationale behind your treatments because that is what will make you a far more effective and well-respected clinician.

About this course:

Upper body and upper extremity orthopedic disorders are a virtual epidemic with our technological and busy lives today, especially in the occupational sector. Areas such as the shoulder have very complex biomechanical arrangements that are highly reliant on proper soft-tissue function for their optimum health. This course covers conditions and biomechanical issues of the cervical and upper thoracic region as well, looking at how this entire region is fundamentally interconnected. We also explore disorders caused by damage or dysfunction to peripheral nerves, which make up a huge percentage of upper extremity complaints.

You will learn:

key strategies for differentiating conditions
foundational assessment principles & test
innovative & evidence-based  treatment strategies
anatomical and biomechanical considerations
clinical neurodynamics: key concepts of neural pathology

Conditions covered: complicated low back pain, SI joint dysfunction, piriformis syndrome & other nerve impingement conditions, iliotibial band friction syndrome, patellofemoral pain syndrome & other knee injuries, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, tarsal tunnel syndrome, neurodynamic testing and nerve mobilization techniques.
