Special positioning techniques are taught that reduce fatigue in the geriatric client as well as the therapist. You will learn proper body mechanics to massage a geriatric client in a massage chair, wheelchair, and gerichair. You will also learn how to massage the client in a prone position and perform back exfoliations in prone and side-lying positions. Included is instruction for proper completion of forms such as intake, SOAP charting, use of standard medical abbreviations, and marketing concepts. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a set of sheets, 2 pillows with cases, an extra pillowcase, bath towel, hand towel, and massage creme.
